FAQs

Answers to Common Questions.

What is the Weight of Empty Shipping Containers?

Empty Tare Weight
A 20-foot container typically weighs around 2.25 tons or 2,200 kg.
A 40-foot container typically weighs approximately 4 tons or 3,950 kg.

How Secure Are ANC Shipping Containers?

ANC Shipping Containers are designed with security in mind. We offer optional lockboxes for added security. These lockboxes make it extremely challenging for unauthorised access, as breaking in would require cutting through the heavy-duty steel, a risk that most would find too great to attempt.

Can I Choose the Colour of My Container?

For our standard range of second-hand shipping containers, they often come in the original colours of the shipping container company, which are usually brown or green. However, at ANC Containers, we offer a repainting service that allows you to select the colour of your choice. This is particularly beneficial if you want your container to match existing structures on your property or if you prefer it in your company's colours.

What Surface Should the Container Be Placed On?

Containers can be placed on any solid surface, including dirt. However, we recommend elevating the container to keep the understructure away from ground moisture. Garden sleepers work well for this purpose. Our delivery team ensures the container is as level as possible, but preparing a cleared and reasonably level area before delivery is advisable.

Are There Any Condensation Issues with ANC Containers?

Most of our shipping containers come equipped with standard ventilation, which is usually adequate for the storage of dry goods. However, if you plan to store items with moisture content, we recommend adding a Whirlybird and additional ventilation. ANC Containers can provide this service before delivery.

Can We Pick Our Own Container?

Absolutely, we encourage inspections. If you're unable to visit us in person, we can send you photos of the container we've selected to ensure complete peace of mind.

What Are the Payment Methods for Hiring Containers?

For hiring containers, payment for the first 30 days, along with transport delivery and pick-up charges, is required in advance. Subsequent monthly payments are set up through direct debit or credit card charges, applied on the 1st of each month for the ensuing month's hire.

What Are the Payment Methods for Purchasing Containers?

We accept payment in Cash, Company Cheque, EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), Credit card (Visa/Master), or Debit card. Please note that credit card payments may incur a service fee. All payments, unless on account, must be receipted before the release of the container.

Do You Buy Back Containers?

Yes, ANC Containers is happy to buy back containers you've purchased, even if you didn't buy them from us. We offer competitive purchase prices for containers.

Do I Need Council Permission for Container Use?

In most cases, you won't require council permission. However, it's advisable to consult with your local council, as some councils may have specific regulations regarding container usage.

Do You Deliver to Regional Areas?

Yes, ANC Containers delivers to regional areas through our network of regional transport companies. This enables us to reach any part of Victoria. In some cases, we can provide 'backloads,' passing on cost savings to you.

How Are Containers Delivered?

For 20-foot containers, we use a tilt tray that gently slides the container off the back of the truck. For 40-foot containers, we use a Side-loader, which lifts the container off from the driver's side of the truck. We also offer Side-loader deliveries for 20-foot containers and have access to Hiab and crane trucks for tight spots.
